wieners

The Seattle Hushville weenie roast took place on Alki Beach. Some dogs were roasted, one dog (Sasha) had a wonderful time chasing illuminated juggler balls and sticks. The glowing balls are visible in this picture but the dog was elsewhere:

I don’t mean to make light of people’s phobias, but this is an interesting one I’d never heard of. Maggie must scour the Web to come up with this stuff to share with me.

Guess what artist has a show at the Frye Art Museum? It’s Henry Darger, the subject of the amazing documentary, “In [...]

on stage: good, pretty good, and ugly

At the Sketchfest Saturday night I saw a group from LA, “Oh, You and Your Bone Spurs.” It didn’t take long to warm up to these people. Their specialty seemed to be dead-on corporate office satire, but they did everything pretty well. The 45 minutes went by too quickly. Next up was Dusty Warren, [...]

fear and hope duke it out. the winner walks away with tommorrow

OK, last post about Burning Man. The best part this year was the great group of people camping in our vicinity of Hushville. three-story victorian house on wheels pulled by a genuine steam engine

I found some photos of the above-mentioned house on Fllickr. Here is one without the steam engine and one with the steam engine.
The Lotus Girls had another great display. This year it was the serpent mother. Another view.
Love and Dragons mutant vehicle. The dragons had green laser eyes.
Dr. Megavolt.
I’d rather talk about food. [...]

“my wife took the RV and left me here.”

The subject line above is one of the most poignant stories I heard while working as an Oracle at the Playa Information desk. (He was directed to the ride-share resources, told about the telephone in Gerlach, etc.) I also met a woman from Mexico who had gotten separated from both her companion and the vehicle [...]

feathers caught in the hamster wheel

The subject line here is part of a message I wrote on a postcard to someone I don’t know. It’s one those Burning Man “random acts of fun” sort of things–like last year’s occurrence of getting my boxer shorts shot out of a cannon. You don’t ask questions, just fill out the card, or whip [...]

it’s hard to be holy

I’ve spent the day with the film crew and actors for “The Way of the Nashwan.”
Sometime soon I’ll dig my way out of the mess left from vacation unpacking and post a couple reports about the 2006 Burn. I’ll also put up a few photos, though I didn’t take a lot of them this [...]
