mytouch phone follow-up: the bad points

Now that I’ve had more time to play around with it, here are the least favorable aspects of the phone:
No headphone jack. You have to use an adapter, which is just another tiny item to carry around with you and possibly lose. It’s senseless. I like Pandora and there’s an Android application for it. Pandora [...]

dwarves and their sins

I wore my “sloth” choir robes at Hushville’s annual cocktail party. It started a conversation about the seven deadly sins, which veered off onto the seven dwarves. I boldly stated that there was sure to be correlation between each sin and each dwarf. After giving it a little thought, the connections came together like this:
Bashful. [...]

boffo

Maggie found this lovely poster to share. “One of the last film noirs ever made,” said she, “but they still knew how to make a boffo poster.” Quite right. They just don’t make ‘em like this any more. The picture has it all–from the gunshots to the Flamingo Club–seeing the poster is like watching the [...]

on the endless beach

I have some Burning Man photos to share, with several caveats and notes of interest.
- For your benefit, I did not photograph the results of the rental car/deer collision we experienced on our drive between Alturas and BRC. I don’t know what happened to the deer, but the car didn’t look so good.
- My first [...]

google android

That’s not my monkey in the photo. I [...]

way out yonder at burning man

One of my favorite experiences this year was the nature tour I took outside the festival. I knew it would be a good one when we were getting on the funky old bus and the tour guide said, “Don’t disturb the bag in the front seat of the bus, there’s a live bat in there.” [...]

evidence in favor of a deity

It’s perfect weekend weather to put all my dusty camping gear in the backyard, hose it down, and leave it out to dry. This would point to a god that takes a very personal interest in my Saturday experience. On the other hand, I’m feeling kind of tired and sick today, so this god maybe [...]

back from burning

After seven visits to the big, fat, whatever that is Burning Man, I’ve come to expect giant, glowing crustaceans on wheels; people dressed as Mohawk Indians on Segways; scary, hulking machines that walk;, and all that. This year didn’t disappoint. No time to write much now. Below are three photos, then I’ve got [...]
