It’s the Northeast Conference on Science and Skepticism and it’s consoling me. It’s consolation because I won’t be able to attend The Amazing Meeting this year. I have to miss it because of an ill-timed work-related meeting. Oh yeah, and I also missed the Vancouver B.C. SGU event last year, dang it.
So it’s off to New York City to NECSS this year instead. I’m going early to hang out in NYC. The American Museum of Natural History is on my list. The Hayden Planetarium. Maybe the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art? The Metropolitan Museum of Art? Can I get you anything at Maxilla and Mandible? I also have a hankering to visit Bleecker Street because it was a song on a Simon & Garfunkel album I had when I was about 12 years old.
I’m getting far afield from NECSS, so let’s get back to it. Phil Plait. Massimo Pigliucci. Eugenie Scott. Jennifer Michael Hecht. The SGU gang, of course. Admirable people speaking up for common sense. I’m so lucky to visit this great city and enjoy these wonderful people.
