You have to love a band that does Television’s “I See No Evil” for a final encore.
Almost exactly one year ago I caught the fledgling Wild Flag at the High Dive in Fremont. I thought it would be interesting to hear them again, so I went to their show at Neumos last night. They are certainly a bit more polished and cohesive, though the overall show was no better (or worse) than last year’s. I will admit that when Carrie Brownstein screamed “I’m going to trample you!” it was a totally believable threat. Timony’s guitar work is a great as ever. Their attempt to turn the song “Racehorse” into the ultimate, amped up, powerhouse, concert crescendo didn’t quite work for me, but it was an entertaining and admirable endeavor.
That’s about all I’ve got to report. Look forward to seeing what the group comes up with when they stop touring long enough to produce new material.
