Here’s an interesting article making the case that GMO crops result in: more food, less deforestation, less water need, and less need for synthetic fertilizer. This is a topic that seems to rapidly escalate into flame wars and emotions when it comes up. The subject really requires more dispassionate review of the evidence and less panic and vituperation.

Yes, there are companies unduly motivated by greed, and this is true in most any industry. That fact should be part of the mix when deciding what’s best for a crowded planet faced with ecological problems, but it shouldn’t destroy objectivity or crowd out everything else.
