I was riding the bus home a few blocks from the Space Needle when the band Mudhoney started playing a show on top of the needle. I don’t mean up in the observation deck, but on top of it. I listened to the show on the radio while on the bus, and then while picking up some deli food, and then got back home in time to watch the last two numbers on live video. It’s great to be in Seattle, and if the big quake comes tomorrow, I’ll think, “Yesterday it was great to be in Seattle.”

On January 30, 1969, the Beatles gave their last live performance on the roof of the Apple building. On July 11, 2013, Mudhoney went to the top of the Space Needle and sang these immortal lyrics for the 25th anniversary of Sub Pop Records:
