building a better adage

Let’s face it, most wise old sayings are pretty lame. For example: “What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Liar! “God will never give you more than you can handle.” Double wrong.  “There’s a reason for everything.” This one was covered in another blog post. “A cat has nine lives.” Ask a veterinarian.

It’s time to come up with new and better proverbs. Here are some suggestions to get us started:

“A watched plot will never climax.”
“Jello is thicker than blood.”
“Every cloud has a silver fulminate lining.”
“Necessity is the mother of Frank Zappa.”
“Two heads may be better, but they’re hard to balance.”
“Strike when the iron is hot and burn a hole in your shirt.”
“While the cat’s away, the mice will eat unprotected food you left out.”

Your turn.

  1. “Nothing is new under the sun” is still applicable today as it was 3000 years ago.

You might enjoy my novel because of your interest in proverbs. The novel presents a contemporary application of Gods Wisdom to promote understanding proverbs and wise sayings..
