humphead wrasse

Standard

This fish is also called the Napoleon fish or the  Māori wrasse. It’s the type of fish I had my photo taken next to while snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef. It seemed very friendly — probably too friendly. It’s population is in decline partially due to illegal fishing, including spear fishing.

There must be thousands of photos of snorkelers and divers next to one of these. Don’t you just want to kiss those luscious blue lips? No? Just as well, those lips are too big anyway.
